Launch Meeting for Shandong Rural Revitalization Science and Technology Innovation Project on “Integrated Technology Demonstration for Smart Pig Production and Precise Environmental Regulation” Successfully Held

On February 7, 2026, the launch meeting for the Shandong Rural Revitalization Science and Technology Innovation Boosting Action Plan project, “Integrated Technology Demonstration for Smart Pig Production and Precise Environmental Regulation,” was successfully held at Big Herdsman Machinery (Jiaozhou) Co., Ltd. The meeting was organized by the project lead unit, Big Herdsman Machinery (Jiaozhou) Co., Ltd., with participation from the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shandong Agricultural University, China Agricultural University (Yantai Campus), Shandong Provincial Agricultural Machinery Technology Extension Station, and invited experts.

In his opening speech, Song Xiao, Member of the Party Leadership Group of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Secretary of the Party Committee of Qingdao Academy of Agricultural Sciences, emphasized that the project implementation must adhere to a problem-oriented approach, foster a sense of urgency, and genuinely target industry bottlenecks for breakthroughs. He stressed focusing on results, ensuring not only the successful completion of project tasks but also promoting enterprise growth, driving industry upgrades, and increasing farmers’ income. He specifically pointed out the need to strengthen collaborative innovation, accelerate the transformation and application of technological achievements, strictly adhere to execution norms, ensure rigorous process management, and maintain compliant expenditure.

Wu Jiaqiang, Technical Director of the project and Vice President of Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, provided a comprehensive introduction to the project. He elaborated on the project’s background, overall objectives, core tasks, technical roadmap, and evaluation metrics, highlighting its important mission in promoting the intelligentization of pig farming and the precision of environmental regulation. He emphasized that through technology integration and demonstration applications, the project will provide scientific and technological support for improving quality, efficiency, and green development in the livestock industry in Shandong Province and nationwide. He also outlined the next steps for project implementation.

Subsequently, responsible persons from each participating unit gave detailed reports on their respective research tasks. The reports covered research content, technical methodologies, implementation plans, team capabilities, and current progress, demonstrating the solid foundation and clear implementation paths of each unit in areas such as intelligent breeding equipment, precise environmental regulation models, health monitoring technologies, and integrated demonstration plans. The reporting and exchange further clarified task divisions and collaboration interfaces among the units, laying a solid foundation for the integrated advancement of the project.

After listening to the reports, the invited experts provided comments and constructive suggestions on the project implementation plan from perspectives of technical feasibility, innovation, demonstration and promotion value, and financial execution compliance. The experts unanimously agreed that the project design closely addresses industry needs and features a clear technical roadmap. They also emphasized the importance of data accumulation, model validation, and cost control during implementation to ensure that the project outcomes are advanced, practical, economical, and compliant.

Li Xiusong, Administrative Director of the project, Vice President of Big Herdsman, and Dean of the Intelligent Livestock and Poultry Farming Research Institute, expressed gratitude for the guidance and support from the experts and made a statement on project organization, management, and implementation guarantees. The implementation of this project is expected to promote the digital and intelligent upgrade of the breeding process, form a replicable standardized model, and provide key technological support for rural revitalization and the high-quality development of the livestock industry.

Following the discussions, the participants visited the Big Herdsman exhibition hall and intelligent production workshop, gaining a close-up understanding of Big Herdsman’s innovative achievements and industrial capabilities in livestock equipment R&D, intelligent manufacturing, and overall smart farming solutions.
