Big Herdsman Successfully Hosts the National Key R&D Project Academic Exchange and Technology Promotion Conference on “Development and Application of Key Equipment for Livestock and Poultry Health Monitoring”

Introducción

On the morning of August 26, 2025, the academic exchange and technology promotion conference for the National Key R&D Project “Development and Application of Key Equipment for Livestock and Poultry Health Monitoring” under the 14th Five-Year Plan’s key initiative “Key Technologies for Factory Farming and Intelligent Agricultural Machinery” was grandly held in the SCO Demonstration Zone, Jiaozhou, Qingdao.

The event was hosted by Qingdao Big Herdsman Machinery Co., Ltd., and chaired by Dr. Li Xiusong, Director of Big Herdsman’s Institute for Intelligent Livestock and Poultry Farming.

Leaders, experts, and enterprise representatives from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Tequ Group, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Henan Agricultural University gathered to discuss the development and future of intelligent livestock and poultry health monitoring technologies.

Focus on Frontiers, Explore the Future

At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Zheng Shuli, Senior Vice President of Big Herdsman, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the host.

He emphasized that this project serves as a “core engine” driving the transformation of China’s livestock industry toward intelligent and precise management, with significant impact on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and strengthening disease control.

Mr. Zheng proposed strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and enterprises to build an autonomous and controllable intelligent equipment system, thereby enhancing the international competitiveness of China’s animal husbandry industry.

Chief Scientist of the project, Researcher Kong Fantao from the Agricultural Economics Institute of CAAS, provided insights into the project’s current progress and highlighted several core challenges.

He stressed the importance of aligning project outcomes with the “Belt and Road + SCO” initiative, continuously improving the “Industry-Academia-Research-Application” platform, and strengthening the transformation mechanism led by enterprises.

Key researchers, including Prof. Hu Jinyou, Prof. Yang Xiaojing, Researcher Zhou Weidong, Prof. Jiang Ruirui, and Associate Researcher Cao Shanshan, presented their research on control medioambiental, physiological and biochemical monitoring, precision input monitoring, performance evaluation, and equipment integration demonstration.

On-site Visit, Witnessing Intelligent Manufacturing Power

After the conference, the delegates visited Big Herdsman’s Jiaozhou factory for an on-site tour to learn more about the development and application of its key equipment.

They visited the smart exhibition hall, R&D testing center, and integrated equipment display area, showing great interest in systems such as control medioambiental, intelligent feedingy biosecurity prevention.

Guests praised Big Herdsman’s strong R&D capabilities and industrial application in intelligent farming equipment, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the value of the collaborative innovation model across industry, academia, and application.
