Decoding Guangken Wuyi Pig Farm: How to Build a “Breathing” Smart Home for 37,800 Pigs

2025-11-11

In a mega pig farm housing nearly 40,000 pigs, air is no longer invisible and intangible—it becomes a “lifeline” that must be precisely designed and managed. In this edition of On-Site Decoding, we explore Guangken Wuyi Phase II nursery and fattening project, and reveal how Big Herdsman transforms every breeze into the foundation of pig health and growth efficiency.

How to Turn a Large-Scale Pig Farm into a “Breathing” Smart Home

In high-density farming, the biggest challenges often come from within: exhaust gases, dust, temperature differentials… Traditional ventilation systems struggle to cope.As the designer and equipment supplier for Guangken Wuyi, Big Herdsman tackled this core problem from the outset, offering two well-defined “breathing paths” as the solution.

01/ Decoding the “Breathing Path”

Dual-Channel Exhaust: A Dynamic Balance Strategy

The ventilation system of a pig house is like its lungs. Big Herdsman designed a refined dual-exhaust system that switches modes intelligently by season.

➤ Fresh Air Inlet: The Starting Point of Purification and Comfort

Air intake path 3

Outdoor fresh air → Mosquito-proof net (initial filtration) → Cooling pad (secondary filtration & cooling) → Corridor → Main duct → Air outlets → Even air distribution across the pig activity zone.

| Decode:

Every air stream is purified and pre-treated, ensuring uniform air delivery and eliminating dead zones in ventilation.

➤ Exhaust Path 1: Underground Ducting for Targeted Gas Removal

Exhaust air path 1

Exhaust → Slatted flooring → Manure trench → Underground fan duct → Forceful extraction → Waste gas treatment system

Decode:This approach targets the manure trench, the main source of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, ensuring efficient removal of harmful gases.

➤ Exhaust Path 2: Ceiling Ventilation for Ambient Regulation

Exhaust air path 2

Exhaust → Ceiling openings → Overhead chamber → Ceiling fan exhaust

Decode:

This path is responsible for removing hot air and contaminated gases from the upper area of the pig activity zone, working in synergy with the trench

exhaust system to form a three-dimensional ventilation strategy. In winter, the system can intelligently switch to using only the trench exhaust mode,

which ensures air quality while significantly reducing indoor heat loss.

The entire project adopts Big Herdsman’s intelligent environmental control system, which emphasizes precision and adaptability. It is no longer a static

ventilation system, but one that can dynamically select the most efficient and energy-saving ventilation combination strategy based on seasons, pig age, and external climate, ensuring stability throughout the production process.

02 /Decoding the “Health Defense Line”

Four-Level Zoning for Biosecurity Isolation

Four-level zoning

Beyond breathing, this pig farm also understands isolation. The project implements a four-tier biosecurity zoning system—Red, Orange, Yellow, and Green—to ensure strict spatial isolation.

🟩 Green Zone – Core Production Area

🟨 Yellow Zone – Living & Office Area

🟧 Orange Zone – Isolation & Testing

🟥 Red Zone – Manure Treatment Zone

Decode:This color-coded defense line enforces strict control over the movement of people, vehicles, materials, and pigs through physical isolation and management protocols, effectively blocking the risks of pathogen intrusion and cross-contamination from entering the farm area.

03/ Decoding the “Nutritional Environment”

Dual Benefits of Smart Wet Feeders

Nutritional Environment 1

Nutritional Environment 2

Another major enemy of environmental control is indoor dust. The project utilizes smart wet feeders throughout the entire facility, providing fresh porridge-style feed 24/7.

  • Direct Benefits: Continuous 24-hour fresh porridge supply improves feed conversion rate, reduces feed-to-meat ratio, and enhances farming efficiency.
  • Environmental Benefits: Wet feeding significantly reduces airborne dust caused by dry powder feed consumption, thereby lowering the incidence of respiratory diseases at the source.
  • Together with the precision ventilation system, it creates a clean, moist, and low-irritation “micro-environment” that protects the health of nursery pigs.

Big Herdsman Decoding Moment

The Guangken Wuyi project exemplifies the systematic evolution of modern pig farm climate control—from rough ventilation to environmental engineering.
This marks an upgrade from “rough ventilation” to “holistic environmental creation.” What Big Herdsman offers is more than just fans or cooling pads—it’s a comprehensive environmental solution based on precise data sensing and logical decision-making.By decoding airflow, biosecurity, and feeding strategies, we construct a healthy home where every pig can breathe freely and grow efficiently.
