Panel discussion meeting

On December 2, 2025, the process promotion meeting for the “Integrated Pilot Project on Precision Feeding Equipment for Aquaculture” was successfully held at Big Herdsman Machinery (Jiaozhou) Co., Ltd. This meeting aimed to bring together the core participating units of the project, report on the phased achievements, discuss collaborative research plans, and accelerate the transition of precision feeding technology from the laboratory to practical applications in large-scale aquaculture.

The meeting was chaired by Ye Zhangying, the project leader, the intelligent breeding position scientist of the National Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System and a professor from Zhejiang University. Dr. Li Xiusong, the director of the management department of Big Herdsman Technology, Mr. Zhang Jie, the general manager of the Aquatic Products Division, and representatives from Fudi Company, among other project participants, attended the meeting together.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Ye Zhangying delivered a speech emphasizing the crucial role of collaborative R&D in the successful implementation of the project. He pointed out that the current project has entered a critical stage of technological breakthrough and achievements transformation,and urgently needs to achieve efficient collaboration to connect the entire chain from technology to products.

During the project presentation session, all parties showcased their solid research and development progress. The team from Zhejiang University detailed the research achievements of the intelligent feeding control model for largemouth bass, including the establishment of high-precision growth prediction and energy demand models, as well as innovative methods for assessing feeding behavior. The initial verification of the model has shown potential in improving feed conversion efficiency. Fudi Company focused on the research and breakthroughs in the core manufacturing processes of equipment, laying a solid foundation for the accuracy and stability of the complete set of equipment.

Big Herdsman, as the key undertaking party for project equipment research and engineering application, presented a detailed report by Zhang Jie, the general manager of the Aquatic Products Division. Since the company officially established the Aquatic Products Division in June 2024, the team has successfully developed and completed multiple series of intelligent feeding machines and automatic conveying systems covering various scenarios, initially establishing a land-based feeding equipment library. The related products feature advanced functions such as adjustable spreading radius and automatic patrol feeding, and have been applied and implemented in multiple actual breeding projects and laboratory scenarios. The effects meet the expectations of precise feeding, providing crucial hardware support for the project’s transformation from technology to product. In the future,Big Herdsman plans to actively collaborate with the advanced feeding models of Zhejiang University to optimize the equipment and achieve deep adaptation.

In his concluding speech, Professor Ye Zhangying highly praised the phased achievements made by all participating units. He particularly commended Big Herdsman for its rapid and practical application of the “0-to-1” development of feeding equipment, and affirmed the solid work of Zhejiang University in model algorithms and the core processes and pilot platforms of the company. Regarding the future, he clearly put forward two requirements: First, deepen the integration of “model – equipment” to achieve a closed loop of intelligent decision-making and precise execution; second, focusing on bigmouth bass, grouper, and other species, gradually expand the adaptability of breeds, ultimately achieving the intelligent upgrade of feeding equipment for 2-3 mainstream breeding species, and building data collection and analysis capabilities to empower the large-scale promotion of the industry.

Visit and Inspection

After the meeting, all the participants of the project team visited the company’s Jiaozhou production base. They conducted a site inspection of the core components production line for feeding equipment, the performance testing laboratory, and the engineering application display area. They had in-depth discussions on the production process and testing standards, laying a solid foundation for more close collaboration in the future.

The successful convening of this meeting marks the entry of the “Research and Application of Complete Set of Equipment for Precise Feeding in Aquaculture” project into a new stage of collaboration. Big Herdsman will continue to leverage its advantages in high-end equipment manufacturing and engineering application, working together with its partners to jointly promote the transformation and upgrading of China’s aquaculture towards precision, intelligence and digitalization.
