On March 20, the kick-off meeting for the “Complete Equipment for Precision Liquid Feeding of Pigs” project was grandly held in Zibo, Shandong. This project is a pilot initiative for the integration of agricultural machinery R&D, manufacturing, promotion, and application in Shandong Province. It is jointly undertaken by Big Herdsman Machinery (Jiaozhou) Co., Ltd. as the core participating unit, in collaboration with the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Machinery Sciences (responsible for technology), Zibo Huide, Shandong University, and Shandong Agricultural University.
As one of the core units for R&D and manufacturing of the project’s equipment, Big Herdsman is deeply involved in the entire project lifecycle. The company is responsible for the trial production, maturation, and promotional application of complete sets of equipment for processing local feed sources, demonstrating its technical strength and industry commitment in the field of livestock engineering equipment.

The project kick-off meeting invited authoritative domestic experts in the fields of livestock engineering and breeding to provide guidance on the project implementation plan. The expert group members—including Ding Xiaoming (Director of the Institute of Protected Agriculture, Planning and Design Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), Tang Xiangfang (Deputy Director of the Institute of Animal Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences), Wang Chaoyuan (Vice Dean of the College of Water Resources and Civil Engineering, China Agricultural University), and Huang Jinxiu (Deputy Director of the Animal Nutrition Institute, Chongqing Academy of Animal Sciences)—carefully listened to the project report. They offered opinions and suggestions on key issues such as technical routes and industrialization paths, providing professional support for the high-quality implementation of the project.

Wang Hongbo, Leader of the Precision Liquid Feeding Project for Pigs at Big Herdsman
Liquid feeding technology for pigs has significant advantages in improving feed conversion rates, reducing breeding costs, and enhancing herd health. However, its practical application still faces “bottleneck” problems, such as poor grinding quality of local feed sources, unstable fermentation quality, low precision in formula execution, and high equipment failure rates.Following the launch of this project, through joint research and creation between universities and enterprises, an innovation consortium integrating R&D, manufacturing, promotion, and application will be formed. As a core participating unit of the project, Big Herdsman’s project presentation was delivered by Wang Hongbo, an engineer from the Liquid Feeding R&D Department. Our company is responsible for the trial production and maturation of complete equipment for processing local feed sources and will assist in its promotion and application. During the project period, the cumulative demonstration and promotion will cover a pig breeding scale of over 100,000 head, creating a technical model that can be replicated and promoted.

With the launch of this pilot project, a new industry situation will emerge, driven by innovation to promote the high-quality development of pig farming.Big Herdsman will take this project launch as an opportunity to leverage its technical expertise in livestock machinery manufacturing and intelligent equipment. This will support the high-quality implementation of the project and promote the industrial application of precision liquid feeding technology, contributing “Big Herdsman’s strength” to the transformation and upgrading of China’s pig farming industry.
The successful convening of the project kick-off meeting marks the official entry of the pilot project into the implementation phase. With the collaborative efforts of multiple parties, the complete equipment for precision liquid feeding of pigs will accelerate its journey from the “laboratory” to the “farm,” injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of China’s pig farming industry.
